“IN THE SPOTLIGHT”
February

Jane Arsenault

Thank you for being such a loyal and supportive volunteer.  ROARR is very blessed to have you in our family.  Let’s let our followers get to know you a bit better…….

Growing up in Washington, how did you make your way up to the Great White North?

I was working in Spokane and met the man I married. His home was here in Calgary so I moved here in January 1978 when it was minus 40 outside.

What are your favorite memories growing up?

My favorite memories are; a trip with my Grandma Marshall when I was 8 years old. My Uncle drove us to Seattle then we took a ferry to Victoria Canada. I was so excited to be on the ocean and see real Totem poles for the first time.

I loved spending time with my neighbor’s horses, riding them, taking care of them and cleaning out the stalls.

Going to Camp Sweyolakan on Lake Coeur D Alene for a week every summer was lots of fun. It was a new adventure every year and the highlight of my summer.

If you could have an all-expenses paid trip to visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? Why?

Dublin Ireland. My Grandfather Marshall was born and raised there. I would love to see and experience where he grew up and hopefully connect with unknown family.

What would someone be surprised to know about you?

I love to be on the water, boating and fishing.

ROARR’S mission is to benefit other’s by utilizing horses with activities, horsemanship, and therapeutic sessions. Did you ever have a favorite horse while living on the ranch? If so, what made the horse so special?

My favorite horse was Daizy.  We connected the day she was born. She was so sweet  and gentle. She would come and sit with me and give me kisses.

What is your favorite thing to do for fun?

I love to photograph wild animals.

Jane, you are so generous with your time in helping others.  What attracted you to ROARR?

I enjoy being with the people that run it, who they are as people, their vision and passion for what they are doing.

The location is truly a magical and inspiring place to be.

I enjoy doing things to help make a difference in other people’s lives.

I am happy and fulfilled when I am volunteering with Roarr!
